Film Collection
The Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) archive contains a large film collection. In 2018, The Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation funded the digitisation of the 16mm film reels held in the archive, revealing beautifully produced films that depict many aspects of life at the hospital. Often shot with a candid and playful approach, or sometimes using orchestrated scenes to tell a story, these films were used to promote fundraising appeals and to document the hospital’s daily workings. Due to the nature of 16mm film digitisation and how these films were originally shot, titles may include outtakes, a combination of titles or unusual edits. Our intention is to present these films in their original context.
This page contains a large selection of the total number films held by RCH – some films available here have been edited to enable access. A master list of all films is currently being researched and will shortly be made available, with instructions on how to request access to the collection.
