Brighton Convalescent Cottage
The hospital opened the Brighton Convalescent Cottage in Holyrood Street, Brighton, in 1884. The cottage greatly benefitted patients’ health, providing the children with fresh sea air, good food, and space to play and recover. Treatments included heliotherapy and salt baths. After the Holyrood Street cottage burned down in 1909 patients were re-accommodated at Edgecliff on Beach Road in Hampton.
