This photographic album was created by Shirley J Stainsby, a nurse who graduated in 1946. The images depict nurses and their young patients, including scenes of a visit from Eleanor Roosevelt in 1943. Nurse Stainsby’s album also contains some of the few photographs of Huntly Burn, which was used as a convalescent cottage for The Children’s Orthopaedic Hospital briefly in 1943. The album was initially loaned, then donated to the archives by Nurse Stainsby’s daughter.
